Set in the Wild West it is a fabulous love story packed with action and gets your imagination going. It is beautifully written with strong characters and filled with adventure, romance, culture, and some violence. The author Jim Fergus does a tremendous job of drawing you in and exploring the many fascinating avenues this book presents. I was hooked from the beginning as the story explores the beliefs of the 1800’s, especially attitudes towards women and the Indian’s culture. ![]() ![]() The women are to marry and have children with the Indians in order to help them assimilate into the white man’s society. The premise of the book is the American Government hands over one thousand women to a tribe of Cheyenne Indians.
